My lowest night-time reading in weeks

For two weeks, TP had woken with palpitations, and her blood pressure kept climbing — around 169 over 130, worst at night. Her doctors could not find a cause and prescribed medication. A relative at home had even started looking for a faith healer.

Over lunch, TP told her cousin RM about it. She had heard of the practice and was open to it. In a quiet corner of a mall in BGC, with her husband and sister nearby, RM first asked her permission. Then they practiced together: steady breathing, forgiveness, releasing fear and anger, and chanting.

TP felt warmth spread through her chest, and her heart raced — then settled. That night she messaged: 104 over 69, lower than she had seen at night in weeks. Two days later they practiced again over a video call, and her reading came to 114 over 81. More than the numbers, she said, the heavy anxiety she had carried for two weeks had lifted.

RM’s first reminder to her was the same every time: do not stop your medication, and keep checking with your doctor. TP thanked God for “sending Kuya RM as my healing angel” — and now wants to learn the practice herself in February.

The house that stayed dry

When floodwaters rose around RM’s home abroad, there was barely time to leave. Just before going, RM remembered the Ten Da cards in their red bag (cards printed with the ten greatest qualities, such as love and forgiveness) and hung them on the front door, asking simply for protection for the house — “come what may.”

The flood lingered for nine days. The water line outside stood nearly a meter high, and there were gaps where the water should have come in. When RM finally returned, parts of the floor were wet — but a rug, the dogs’ blanket and whole areas of the floor were completely dry. Neighbors in the village chat were throwing out ruined furniture.

“I can’t explain it, and I’ve stopped trying to,” RM says. “I’m just so, so thankful.”

Calm in the middle of the storm

On the night of the evacuation, RM’s dogs were more agitated than RM had ever seen them, and a 25-kilo tortoise — always anxious when moved — was stressed in its basin. With nothing else to do, RM offered them a blessing. Soon the dogs settled, and the tortoise made the whole trip calm and clean.

Weeks later, leaving the dogs with a sitter after a visit, RM did the same. They watched quietly as RM left — no crying, no separation anxiety. “It works,” RM said, almost surprised.
